Race, Culture And Religion

Latest/similar articles

Every race, culture and religion has its own distinctive attribute that influence early child development. Understanding the development of the child also differs from culture to culture. How the child is brought up largely depends on the parents’ culture. It is therefore safe to say that culture has a profound effect on the child’s behavior. The differences among children can be social or cultural and it is important to understand the child’s culture and remember to always show respect. Diverse cultural backgrounds can lead to misunderstanding if and only when the person is narrow-minded. Nowadays, it is best to always have an open mind. While it is true that one culture may not be acceptable in other cultures, it is advisable to remain respectful and polite in order to maintain peace and order.

Furthermore, behavior is not the only concern that is directly affected by race, culture and religion. There are other serious issues that are also affected by these differences. To avoid misunderstanding, we should always be responsible about our views and values towards this sensitive subject. It is recommended to always think carefully how our race, culture and religion can affect today’s society.

Every person is different physically, socially, culturally, emotionally and sexually. We need to accept and embrace the fact that we are all different and do our best to maintain equilibrium. The concept of diversity, which is all differences, encompasses acceptance and respect. It stands for variety, a range of different things. It is important to recognize the fact that each individual is unique and understand the dimension of multiplicities in each individual. Parents and childminders alike should treat children equally despite their dissimilarities and move beyond simple tolerance to embracing and celebrating these differences because we all have the right to equal respect, equal opportunity and equal justice.

Child abuse is a serious issue that should not be taken for granted. It can happen to all children regardless of their family structure and their parents’ parenting styles and strategies. It is important to understand that any form of physical, sexual or emotional maltreatment or neglect of a child or children is unacceptable. The fact that we are all different, we may have our own views on what is and what is not an acceptable way to treat a child. Parents and childminders may also have different views on this topic and it is important that they discuss this very carefully to make sure that the child will not experience any form of abuse because it can definitely affect his or her behavior.

Some children who experience abuse turn out to be abuser themselves when they grow up but of course this is not always true to others. It does not always follow that an abused child will become an abuser in the future although the experience will definitely change the child’s life especially in his or her way of dealing with people. Abused children find it difficult to build a relationship that lasts. When they become parents themselves, they will face problems in raising their own children.

While it is difficult to determine if the child is being abused because they usually become withdrawn and prefer not to talk about the experience, it is best to make them feel loved and protected in order to gain their trust. Misguided loyalty can also be the reason why the child refuses to tell the truth. They will protect their abuser by lying about what really happen especially if the abuser is a family member or a friend.

Concluding Points

While the above factors play a very important role in the child’s behavior, as parents or childminders it is always important to understand that people do not share the same views, opinions and expectations and therefore you must also look carefully into your own. What is good to you may not be good to your friend or another parent or to the child’s nanny. What is evil to you may not be evil to them, too. When caring for the people’s child, it is best to accept the differences in the way they raise their child.

As a childminder, it is important to understand that parents have different ways of raising a child. What may be tolerable to you may be completely unacceptable to them. Abuse can have a psychological impact on the child’s development which can forever haunt him or her for the rest of his or her life.

There are rules and regulations set up that are acceptable to society in general. Encourage children to observe and respect them. Explain to them that they are there to benefit everyone. In order to live a safe, happy and peaceful environment, it is important that we all abide by these rules.
